IRE vs PAK Highlights: Pakistan has suffered a crushing defeat in the first match of the T20 series against Ireland. This is the first time in T20 history that Pakistan has lost against Ireland. In international cricket, Ireland has won against Pakistan after the 2007 World Cup.

Dublin: Pakistan’s preparations for the T20 World Cup 2024 have suffered a major setback. Pakistan has lost the first match of the T20 series on the Ireland tour. Host Ireland won the first match of the three-match series played in Dublin by 5 wickets. Ireland defeated Pakistan for the first time since 2007. Then Ireland won the World Cup match. Pakistan, playing first, scored 182 runs for 6 wickets. Ireland achieved the target by losing 5 wickets with one ball to spare.

Babar Azam’s slow fifty

Pakistan had a bad start and Mohammad Rizwan was run out in the second over. Babar Azam came out to bat at number three. Pakistan’s team could score only 38 runs in the powerplay. Babar’s contribution in this was 15 runs off 19 balls. The Pakistan captain scored his 35th half-century off 39 balls. Babar made an 85-run partnership for the second wicket with Saim Ayub. Ayub contributed 45 runs off 29 balls. He was dismissed in the 15th over after scoring 57 runs off 43 balls.

In the middle order, Fakhar Zaman played an innings of 20 runs off 18 balls. Azam Khan and Shadab Khan could not even open the account. Iftikhar Ahmed played a quick innings of 37 runs off 15 balls to take the team to 182 runs. Shaheen Afridi also scored 14 runs off 8 balls. Pakistan scored 31 runs in the last two overs. Craig Young took two wickets for Ireland.

The match went till the last over

Ireland also had a bad start. Paul Stirling got out after scoring 8 and then Tucker after scoring 4 runs. After two wickets fell at 27 runs, Andrew Balbirni and Harry Taker took over the innings. There was a partnership of 77 runs between the two for the third wicket. Taker got out after scoring 36 runs in 27 balls by Imad Wasim. Balbirni held one end by scoring a half-century. Dockrell contributed 24 runs in 12 balls. Balbirni got out after playing an innings of 77 runs in 55 balls in the 19th over.

Ireland needed 11 runs in the last over. Curtis Camper hit a four against Abbas Afridi on the very first ball. He equalized the match by hitting two runs on the third ball and a four on the fourth ball. The leg bye run on the 5th ball gave Ireland a historic victory.

KARACHI: Shahid Afridi was taken aback when two all-round players were left off of the Pakistan T20I team. Shahid Afridi, the former captain of Pakistan, expressed astonishment that the two all-rounders in the T20I team for the series against England and Ireland were not chosen. The Men in Green will travel to England for four games after their three-match series in Ireland. Boom Boom Afridi said that they had maintained Muhammad Wasim Jr. for a long time before dropping him in an interview with Karachi media.

He also discussed Aamer Jamal’s absence from the team. “It’s surprising how after keeping Wasim Jr in the team, he was dropped,” he stated. “After Abdul Razzaq, we saw a good all-rounder in Aamer Jamal, it’s surprising he wasn’t retained,” he stated. Afridi, meanwhile, believes Babar has to develop into a very good leader. “A competent captain makes critical choices when things are tough. In addition to becoming a fantastic player, we want Babar to develop into a great leader,” he stated. He insisted, “These guys have all been playing for a very long time; their current goal is to do well at the World Cup.

Noteworthy, Friday’s first T20I will mark the start of the Men in Green’s European tour. The team will play two further games at Castle Avenue on Sunday and Tuesday before traveling to Headingley, Leeds, on Wednesday to play four Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) against England.
